Bissell steam troubleshooting

The first Bissell plant was built in the 1883. The plant started the production of machines for carpet cleaning. Now the product range of Bissell is rather wide: from simple vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaning agents to vacuum cleaners for deep cleaning of carpets, including steams. The troubleshooting table below should help ordinary users with treating of errors and maintenance.

Bissell 1697 POWERSTEAMER PRO SERIES steam troubleshooting

Bladder may be empty.Refill tank with hot tap water.
SmartMix® Bottle may be empty.Fill with BISSELL chemical.
The Pump Belt may be broken.Turn the machine OFF and unplug from the outlet. To check if a Pump Belt has broken, you will need a flat head screwdriver. Insert the blade end into the lower slot of the Belt Access door to release the lower snap. If necessary, insert the blade end into the upper slot to release the upper snap. Examine for belt breakage. You should be able to see the Pump Belt looped around the motor shaft.
If it is broken or missing, please refer to Part Numbers and Descriptions on page 17 before calling Customer Service.
Complete installation instructions will accompany the replacement belt.
The filter may be clogged.Clean out filter, page 14.
Tanks may not be seated properly.TYim power OFF; remove and reseat tanks.
Pump may have lost prime.Him power OFF; after 1 minute turn ON and depress trigger.
The Brush Belt or Pump Belt may be broken.Turn the machine OFF and unplug from the outlet. To check if a Brush Belt has broken, you will need a flat head screwdriver. Insert the blade end into the lower slot of the Belt Access door to release the lower snap. If necessary; insert the blade end into the upper slot to release the upper snap. Examine for belt breakage. The Brush Belt should be visible, looped around the motor shaft.
If it is broken or missing, please refer to Part Numbers and Descriptions on page 17 before calling Customer Service. Complete installation instructions will accompany the replacement belt.

Drain cap may be missing or not properly installed at back of Tank-in-Tank.™
Remove Tank-in-Tank,™ loosen and re-tighten Drain Cap.
Tank-in-Tank™ lid is not properly installed.Re-install lid; refer to The Basics section.
Tank-in-Tank™ is not properly seated.Tank-in-Tank™ must be firmly seated to function; remove and reseat Tank-in-Tank.™
