Kenmore 665.1472 Series garbage disposal troubleshooting

Is the drawer less than half-full?Drawer must be more than half full before trash is compacted.
Is the power supply cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breakertripped?Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician.
Is the drawer completely closed?Close the drawer firmly and start the compactor again.
Is the Key-Knob turned all the way to START?Turn the Key-Knob (Key-Switch) fully to START and release (on some models). See “Starting the Compactor.”
Did you press ON before pressing START?Press ON before pressing START (on some models). See “Starting the Compactor.”
Is the ram all the way up?Drawer will open only when ram is fully raised.
To raise the ram on models with a Key-Knob (or Key- Switch):Turn the Key-Knob (Key-Switch) to START and release. See “Starting the Compactor.”
To raise the ram on models with push button controls:Press OFF, and then press ON. See "Starting The Compactor."
Do you use the compacting cycle frequently enough?Compacting works best when only a few items are loaded.
How often do you notice this?Bottles will not break every time. The thickness of the bottle's glass and the content of the trash load below it may keep the bottle from breaking.

Compactor does not runIs Key-Knob turned all the way to “START before it is released?
Is drawer completely closed?
Is compactor connected to a live electrical circuit with the proper voltage? Using an extension cord could reduce voltage.
Has circuit breaker tripped or house fuse blown?
Drawer will not openDrawer will open only when ram is all the way up. To raise ram, turn Key-Knob to “START and release.
The drawer cannot be opened during the EXTRA PAC™ Cycle. While EXTRA PAC™ Cycle is operating, an indicator light on console will be lighted.
Trash does not compactIs drawer loaded property? If anything gets between ram and drawer, the ram will return to the “up" position without compacting. Drawer must be at least 1/3 full before compactor will compact.
Not enough compaction or forceCompacting works best when only a few items are loaded at a time. Use compacting cycle frequently.
Bottles do not breakNot all bottles will break every time. Whether a bottle breaks depends on the bottle and the trash load below it.
Strong odorsIf deodorizing liquid is not dispensing when you open and close drawer, replace deodorizing can.
Drawer does not open and close properlyCompactor should be level from front to back. Adjust front leveling legs until compactor is level. (See Installation Instructions for detailed steps.)
Flexible toe plate should not drag on floor. Trim toe plate. (See Installation Instructions for detailed steps.)
Drawer side must be completely closed and latched.
