PROBLEMPOSSIBLE REASONS & SOLUTIONS
The Vac-ThenSteam™ will not turn on.Your Vac-Then-Steam™ should be securely plugged into a 220-240V AC electrical outlet only.
Check your fuse or breaker.
Switch Steam or Vacuum Power button to the ON “1” position.
The Vac-Then-Steam™ will not make steam.Make sure the water tank is filled to the indicated fill line. Attach Steam Pad and Frame to base of the unit.
Switch Steam Power button to the ON “1” position.
TILT MOP HANDLE BACK TO GENERATE STEAM.
The Vac-Then-Steam™ leaves water on the floor.Check to see if your microfibre cleaning pad has absorbed too much moisture. We recommend you unplug the VacThen-Steam™ and replace the microfibre cleaning pad.
Make sure the steam pad is attached correctly.
Wait 30 seconds after switching Steam Power button ON “1” before mopping, allowing water to heat to a 100°C sanitising steam. If the unit is not allowed to heat properly, some water may be emitted.
The Vac-Then-Steam™ is hard to push.Make sure the steam pad is attached correctly.
Check to see if the cleaning pad is excessively dirty. Replace if the pad is too dirty or wet.
Try increasing the height of the pole for better leverage by rasing the height of the telescopic pole.
The Vac-Then-Steam™ is not picking up dirt.Check filters to see if they need cleaning. Follow instructions for rinsing and drying the filters before re-inserting back into the unit. (See “Maintenance” sections for instructions.)
Dust cup may be full. Empty the dust cup.
Check nozzle at the cleaning base for blockages. Clear blockages if required.

The Steam Mop will not turn on.Your Steam Mop should be securely plugged into a 120V AC electrical outlet only.
Check your fuse or breaker.

Steam Mop will not make steam.Prime the pump, see page 4 for more information.
Is there water in the water tank? If not, add water to your Steam Mop following the instructions.
Steam Mop leaves water on the floor.Check to see if your micro-fiber cleaning pocket is too wet. We recommend you unplug the Steam Mop and change the micro-fiber cleaning pocket.
Make sure the steam pocket is attached correctly.
Steam Mop is hard to push.Make sure the steam pocket is attached correctly.
Check to see if your pocket is excessively dirty.
Try increasing the height of the pole for better leverage.
Floors are cloudy, streaky or spotty after steaming.The micro-fiber pocket might be dirty. Flip or change the pocket.
If you washed the pocket with powder detergent then the pocket might be ruined.
If you are cleaning in a kitchen area where there might be a build-up of grease then use a degreasing agent such as an all-purpose cleaner or dish soap and paper towels to clean the area first.
You might have left the mop in the same spot for too long.
Do you have hard water? If you do you, we recommend switching to distilled water.

The Shark* Lift-Away Pro Steam Pocket0 Mop will not turn-on.Your steam mop should be securely plugged into an electrical outlet only. Check your fuse or breaker.

The unit will not make steam.Is there water in the water tank? If not add water to your steam mop following instructions on page 5.
If the unit still does not make steam, follow the instructions on page 17 to clean the nozzle.

Make sure the cleaning pocket is attached correctly.
Cannot select steam setting/flashing blue light remains on.If you have already plugged in your unit unplug and try a different outlet. This may reset the standby mode.
Add water to the tank and select steam setting by pressing the standby button.

The Shark® Lift-Away"* Pro Steam Pocket0 Mop left a white spot on the floor.Do not leave your steam mop on the floor with a damp or wet cleaning pocket
If you're using tap water, we recommend switching to distilled water. Make sure the cap is securely on the water tank.
Floors are cloudy, streaky or spotty after steaming.The cleaning pocket might be dirty. Flip or change the cleaning pocket.
If you washed the cleaning pocket with powder detergent then your pocket could be damaged and require replacement.
This could also be an indication of prior soap or grease residue that has accumulated on the floor. As our steam mops use only a small amount of water, it may not be wet enough to rinse off the accumulation that the steam is bringing to the surface. We suggest rinsing the floor with nothing but water, letting it dry, and then steam mopping again with a clean pocket. One or more rinses generally removes the residue.
A more stubborn case may require you to rinse the floor with a mix of one part vinegar and two parts water.
The Shark® Lift-Away,M Pro Steam Pocket® Mop is hard to push.Make sure the cleaning pocket is attached correctly.

There is not enough steamMineral build-up may be clogging the nozzle.Using the nozzle cleaner, carefully clean the nozzle to remove debris.
Water level may be low.Fill the steam bottle tank.
The cleaning pockets are streaking or leaving dirt behindThe microfibre fabrics may be dirty and need to be replaced or washed.Use the other sides, if clean.
The microfibre fabric may be worn.Replace with a clean cleaning pocket.
Replace as needed.
The cleaning tool handles keep falling off the hoseThe connection may not be secure.Check the connection, making sure you are pressing in and turning at the same time.

Shark• Steam & Spray" Mop will not turn on.1. Make sure that the power cord is firmly inserted into the electrical outlet.
2. Check your fuse or breaker.
3. The removable cord may be loose. Please check that the removable cord is firmly inserted into the power cord receptacle.
4. If your unit still does not work, call Customer Service at 1-800-798-7398.
Shark• Steam & Spray" Mop will not make steam.1. Is there water in the water tank? If not, add water following instructions on page 4.
2. Make sure that the steam locking collar is in the "Steam & Spray' position. IMPORANT: Steam will not activate in 'Spray Only" mode.
3. Is the water intake tube stuck in the top of the water tank? If so, push it down so it reaches the bottom of the tank.
4. If the unit still does not make steam, follow decalcification instructions on page 6.
Shark• Steam & Spray" Mop is squirting foam from the spray nozzle.1. The Cleanser Bottle is not firmly inserted into the unit. Make sure that you hear an audible "Click" when you insert the Cleanser Bottle into the appliance.
2. There may be air in the system. Hold down the spray button for 5 to 10 seconds to flush the system.
Shark• Steam & Spray" Mop doesn't spray.1. Make sure that the batteries are inserted into the battery compartment behind the Cleanser Bottle. If there are batteries, then insert new batteries.
2. Make sure that the Cleanser Bottle is inserted all the way in. You should hear an audible "Click" when inserted.
3. Check that there is enough cleaning solution in the Cleanser Bottle. If not, insert a new bottle of Steam Energized’" Cleanser.
4. There may be air in the system. Hold down the spray button for 5 to 10 seconds until solution comes out of the spray nozzle.
5. The spray nozzle at the front of the unit where the spray comes out may be clogged. See page 6 for instructions on cleaning the spray nozzle.
The Cleanser Bottle fell out.1. The unit is not meant to be turned upside down. When upside-down, the Cleanser Bottle is at risk for falling out of its cradle. Please do not turn the unit upside-down. If it is necessary to turn the unit upside-down, remove the Cleanser Bottle first.
2. Make sure the bottle is inserted all the way in until you hear a click.
Shark* Steam & Spray'" Mop left a white spot on the floor.1. Check to see if the cleaning pad is soaked through. We recommend that you unplug the unit and replace the cleaning pad.
2. Make sure that the cleaning pad is attached correctly.
Shark• Steam & Spray" Mop leaves water on the floor.1. Do not leave the Steam & Spray™ Mop on the floor with a damp cleaning pad.
2. If you are using tap water, we recommend switching to distilled water.
3. Make sure that the cap is securely placed on the water tank.
Floors are cloudy, spotty or streaky after cleaning.1. The cleaning pad may be dirty. Change the cleaning pad.
2. If the washable cleaning pad was washed with powder detergent then it may be damaged and require replacement. Replacement pads are available at www. sharkdean.com.
3. The mop may have been left in one spot for too long.
4. This may be leftover from past cleaners used on the floor surface. Use the mop a few more times again with a clean pad and see if the cloudiness is removed.
If this does not work, we suggest rinsing the floor with water, letting it dry and then steam mopping again with a clean pad. One or more rinses generally removes the residue. A more stubborn case may require you to rinse the floor with a mix of one part vinegar and two parts water.
