Carrier infinity thermostat troubleshooting

ProblemsCause/Solutions
Infinity Zone Control docs not power up.1. Recheck wiring to ABCD on all devices.
2. Make sure all colors match for every terminal.
3. Make sure power is applied to the indoor unit, and the amber LED is lit on indoor control circuit board.
4. Check for 24VAC between the C and D terminals at Infinity Zone Control terminal connector and Damper Control Module.
5. Check fuse on indoor unit’s circuit board.
Display says “Indoor Unit Not Found”1. Recheck wiring to ABCD on all devices.
2. Make sure all colors match for every terminal.
3. Press left-side button to try again.
4. If display still reads “Indoor Unit Not Found”, disconnect accessories and all devices from ABCD and connect User Interface directly to indoor unit with a short piece of thermostat wire. Add other devices one at a time to determine where the communication issue exists.
Display says “Outdoor Unit Not Found”, and I have a two-stage communicating outdoor unit.1. Recheck wiring to ABCD connector on outdoor unit.
2. Make sure all colors match for every terminal.
3. Check for 24VAC between the C and D terminal connector of outdoor unit.
I made a mistake on the start-up screens, and hit the right-side button to get to the run mode. How do I get back to start-up?1. Press the ADVANCED button for at least 10 seconds.
2. Install/Service menu will appear.
3. Scroll down to the INSTALL selection.
4. Press the right-side button; the screen will prompt you to press the right side again to re-install the system.
Control does not see zones 5 through 8.1. Make sure zone module 5 - 8 has the DIP switches set to the right.
2. Recheck wiring to the ABCD connectors.
Control says I have zones 5-8 but not 1-4.1. Make sure zone module 1 - 4 has the DIP switches set to the left.
2. Recheck wiring to the ABCD connectors.
Some zones in my zoned system do not provide enough comfort. (A noticeable difference exists between the actual room temperature
and operating setpoint, yet the equipment docs not turn on).
1. The zone airflow limit may be set too low. Perform the Zone Airflow Limit Checkout procedure, raise airflow limit setting, if possible.

Some zones prov ide too much airflow and are noisy.1. The zone airflow limit may be set too high. Perform the Zone Airflow Limit Checkout procedure, lower airflow limit setting if pos-
sible.
To check current system status.1. Press and hold the right side button for 3 seconds. This will display the current active system faults.

If present, thermostat is operating correctly and problem is with wiring or equipment. If 24 vac is not present, replace the thermostat. Check for Compressor Cycle per Hour Limit. Cooling may be locked out.
Heating Will Not Energize.Select HEAT mode. Increase heating set point to 10 degrees above room temperature. Check for 24 vac at W1/0/B terminal. If present, thermostat is operating correctly and problem is with wiring or equipment. If 24 vac is not present, replace the thermostat.

ProblemSolution
The battery icon is displayedThe battery icon appears on the display only when the battery starts to lose power. Replace it when one-third of the icon is black. If your thermostat is battery powered and you wait until the icon is just a silhouette with no black bars, you will slowly lose thermostat functions until it doesn’t work at all.
“Aux heat on” is displayed (heat pump systems only)Aux heat on is auxiliary heat. It applies only to the heat pump version. When it is displayed, it means the unit is heating with the electric heater. This can happen manually by setting the mode to Em Heat or automatically, if the unit can not keep up with demand running in heat pump mode
There is a power outagedisplay the indoor temperature because it has a battery backup power source. This means that even though your heating and cooling system doesn’t work, you will still be able to monitor the room temperature. NOTE: With or without batteries, any previous changes to the settings will be saved when there is a power outage
My Heat Pump unit is operating in cooling when it should be heatingMost likely, the reversing valve is setup wrong in the advanced configuration. Check reversing valve option above in the configuration setup
My Thermostat does not show room temperatureThere is an option in the advanced configuration setup to display set point and room temperature. Check the configuration setup above
There are icons flashing on the thermostat displayThere are several internal timers which influence the thermostat’s operation. If a timer is preventing the equipment from turning on, the display icons which show the equipment is operating, will be flashing to indicate a turn-on delay is present. You get a system error message Here are the possible system error messages and what they mean:
—       The room air sensor reports that the room air temperature is above 150°F or below -50°F.
—       E4 The memory has failed and the thermostat will return to the factory settings
