How to clean microwave with baking soda?

Looking for an easy and effective way to clean the microwave oven? Baking soda is a safe and universal cleaner that will easily remove burnt fat, food leftovers and other contaminants from any surface. Due to its soft impact, natural composition and cleaning features, the soda will clean not only the microwave body, but also the cooking cavity.

The cleaning will require:

  • baking soda (sodium bicarbonate);
  • dish cleaning sponge;
  • latex gloves;
  • lint-free wipes;
  • a container with water.

Despite all cleaning and disinfecting properties of soda, you should not forget that this is an abrasive substance. Dry soda can damage your microwave oven lacquer coating. To remove contaminants, a solution of sodium bicarbonate has to be used.

Steam-clean the chamber with soda at least once a month. This will remove the unpleasant odor and disinfect the device.

This step by step guide will help return your home appliance to its original look:

  1. Pour 1 liter of water in a glass or plastic dish and add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Stir the solution to a homogeneous composition and place it in the microwave oven cooking chamber. Set the maximum power on the control panel and turn the timer on for 5-10 minutes. The solution should boil for a while.
  2. After the microwave switches off, leave the water container in the chamber for 10 minutes. It will be enough to create a large amount of soda vapor inside the chamber and it will dissolve the dirt.
  3. Unplug the microwave oven and take the soda solution out. No need to pour it out – you will need it for cleaning the exterior walls of the appliance.
  4. Put rubber gloves on your hands and you can start cleaning. Take out a rotating plate and a guiding ring. They need to be cleaned separately. The remaining pieces of burned food or dissolved fat are easily cleaned with a sponge. Use a damp cloth to wipe the walls of the cooking chamber. Repeat the procedure until all soda residue and fat are removed.
  5. For washing the rotating plate you will need to prepare the paste made of soda and water. This solution will remove even the most difficult contaminants.
  6. Close the microwave door in order to prevent liquid from getting inside, and proceed with cleaning the outside surface. Use hot soda solution to do that.
  7. Wipe the surface with a dry towel and open the chamber door. When the oven dries out, you can connect it to the network.

The microwave looks like brand new. We could make it crystal clean without the use of aggressive chemical compounds. The only thing left to do is to keep it in this state all the time.

To avoid splashes and stains on the walls of the chamber, use a special cover for the microwave oven.

It is important to remember that the remnants of food on the walls of the device lead to an unpleasant odor and growth of bacteria.
