Microwave oven breakdowns may be rather disappointing. Luckily, many of the issues are not too serious and can be fixed in no more than half an hour.
Just identify the symptom as accurately as possible and find it in the chart below.
When troubleshooting microwave issues on your own, be very careful, as this appliance generates high voltages and radio-frequency radiation. So attempting to repair one should definitely involve all the possible precautions.
Black & Decker microwave troubleshooting
Although Black & Decker specializes in manufacturing power tools, hardware and accessories, it is also possible to find kitchen appliances in its product range. Many of them use microwave technology.
In addition to microwave ovens, there are also toaster and pizza ovens. One can choose from stainless steel, white or black+stainless steel exterior.
|Unit is not heating or stops heating.
|Electrical outlet is not working or oven is unplugged.
|Check to make sure outlet is working. Both the temperature control and the timer must be set in order for the oven to function.
|Second toasting is too dark.
|Setting on toast is too dark.
|If doing repeated toasting in the oven, select a shade slightly lighter than the previous setting.
|Moisture forms on the inside of the glass door during toasting.
|The amount of moisture differs in different products, whether bread, bagels or frozen pastries.
|The moisture that forms on the oven door is quite common and will usually disappear during the toasting cycle. Since the oven is closed the moisture cannot evaporate as it would in a toaster.
|Food is overcooked or undercooked.
|Temperature and cook time may need to be adjusted.
|As your toaster oven is much smaller than a regular oven, it may heat up faster and cook faster. Try lowering the temperature 25 degrees from the suggested temperature in a recipe or on a label.
|There is burnt food odor or smoking when oven is being used.
|There are remnants of food in crumb tray or on the walls of the oven.
|Refer to the directions in the CARE AND CLEANING section of this Use & Care booklet. Make sure all parts of the oven, baking pan and rack are clean.
|Heating elements do not seem to be on.
|The heating elements cycle on and off during baking.
|Check the oven to make certain the function desired is being used. On broil, only the top element is on.
Black & Decker BDMOW microwave troubleshooting
Black & Decker BDMOW is a range of microwaves with attractive white or white+black exterior. Although the buttons look good, they tend to scratch over time.
The BDMOW microwaves vary in capacity, power, and features. BDMOW011XE, for instance, is rather small and has an oven capacity of 17 liters, the BDMOW014XE offers generous 30 litres, while BDMOW012XE is in between.
|Oven can not be started.
|(1) Power cord not plugged in tightly.
|Unplug. Then plug again after 10 seconds.
|(2) Fuse blowing or circuit breaker works.
|Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker (repaired by professional personnel of our company)
|(3) Trouble with outlet.
|Test outlet with other electrical appliances.
|Oven does not heat.
|(4) Door not closed well.
|Close door well.
|Glass turntable makes noise when microwave oven operates
|(5) Dirty roller rest and oven bottom.
|Refer to "Maintenance of Microwave" to clean dirty parts.
Black & Decker MX, MY microwave troubleshooting
There are several models of microwaves available in the Black & Decker MX range. The larger ones, MX30PG or MX30PGWS, offering 30 liter capacity, have a stainless steel body, while the smaller microwaves, like MX23PG, offering 23 liter capacity, have a white exterior.
All of them share an express cooking feature enabling you to cook at full power for up to 120 seconds.
|Oven will not turn on
|The oven is not properly connected
|Remove the plug from the socket. Wait for 10 seconds and then reinsert.
|Circuit breaker or fuse is tripped.
|Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse.
|The socket may not be working.
|Test the socket with another appliance.
|Oven will not start cooking.
|The door is not properly closed.
|Close the door properly.
|START button was not pressed.
|Press the START button.
|Another program has already been entered in the oven.
|Press cancel button to cancel the program and then program again.
|The program has not been properly entered.
|Program properly according to Operating Instructions.
|CANCEL button was pressed accidently.
|Program the oven over again.
|When the oven is on, noise is emitted from the glass tray.
|The roller ring and the oven button are dirty.
