All dishwashers have two water filters. The first one is water inlet valve filter. It cleans tap water coming into the appliance from sand, metal salts and all sorts of grime. The second filter purifies the water draining from the dishwasher. It prevents clogs in the drain hose and in the circulation pump and protects the sewage system.
How to clean a Samsung dishwasher filter
Filter is not a single detail, but a whole filtering unit. It usually consists of several parts:
- internal fine mesh filter,
- internal coarse filter,
- external mesh filter,
- supporting parts.
It is not that difficult to find the filter once you remove all racks from the tub. It is located under the spray arms and resembles a sort of glass inserted into the bottom.
Removing the filter is also very simple – simply rotate it clockwise and pull it out of its cavity.
After removing, the filter can be easily disassembled into parts and washed under running water.
Cleaning dishwasher inlet valve filter
Inlet valve filter gets clogged much less often than the drain one, but it does not mean it requires no attention at all.
The more dirty and “hard” water runs through the pipes, the more often this filter has to be removed and cleaned.
Due to the clogs in the inlet filter and the breakages of water supply inlet valve that it entails, the dishwasher does not fill water or does it very slowly.
Many modern Samsung dishwashers remind their owners about cleaning the inlet and drain filters by displaying specific error codes on the control panel. This is how the machine protects itself and you from the possible breakages caused by clogs and contamination.
