Some of them are simple, do not require the involvement of specialists, others are complex. However, try to handle it on your own so that you do not have to spend money from your personal budget to call a repairman.
Troubleshooting
If the Frigidaire machine does not start (the Start button does not respond, the indicators on the display do not light up), this may indicate one of three problems:
- The touchpad ribbon cable is corroded.
- Blown fuse on the control panel.
- In the junction box, the connection is incorrectly made.
Check the dishwasher switch. Make sure it didn’t work. If it worked, but the machine did not start, turn it manually to the “Off” position, and then to the “On” position. If the control panel lights up, but there is no reaction, pay attention to the button with the “lock” pattern. Click on it and hold for 3 seconds.
In some models, the Heat Dry panel is used as a lock, in others it is an automatic control lock. If the lock symbol is located next to the Heat Dry panel, then you need to click there. As long as the blocking is activated, there will be no reaction. Press the “Heat Dry” button and hold for 3 seconds. A beep will sound. The indicator will turn off. The machine will be unlocked, after which it can be used for its intended purpose.
Frigidaire dishwasher turns on but won’t start
It also happens that the machine turns on, but does not respond to pressing the “Start” button. In other words, the dishwashing process is not activated. At the same time, other indicators work.
The problem may be caused by the ribbon cable that is connected to the touchpad. Most likely, moisture got inside the board through the seal of the case, as a result of which the contacts became covered with corrosion.
Disassemble the front panel. Clean the cable contacts. To do this, use a special cleaner. Dry the treated area. Collect everything back. Start the dishwasher. If nothing has changed, buy a new touchpad or seek professional help.
The dishwasher does not start, the panel does not light up
The dishwasher may not react at all. The panel does not light up, pressing the buttons does not bring results. First of all, it is recommended to check the quality of the connection in the junction box, which is located under the machine on the right side.
The junction box has a power cable that plugs into a power outlet. If it was connected with violations, the contacts could weaken. The natural consequence after this is the lack of reaction of the dishwasher to start attempts.
Check all contacts, tighten connections, and replace burnt elements, if any. Before doing this, be sure to unplug the machine from the mains to avoid electric shock.
The reason for problems with starting the dishwasher may be a thermal fuse located on the control board. If it is burned out, the control panel will not respond in any way.
The thermal fuse is located behind the control panel. It prevents it from overheating. If the fuse has failed due to a short circuit, it must be replaced, for this:
- Turn the switch to the off position.
- Open the door and disassemble the front panel.
- Carefully remove the control panel housing and disconnect the fuse.
- Replace the old fuse with a new one. Pay attention to the 2 wires that come with it in the assembly. Connect them to the control board in place of the previous ones.
Put the panel back in place and check the operation of the machine.
