In modern refrigerators, they are multitasking, so the structure of such devices is quite complex. When a user encounters an error, he cannot always figure out what exactly went wrong in a complex mechanism. How then to deal with emerging problems in a Frigidaire refrigerator?
If you disassemble the H1 error, then it means that the device is overheated. Moreover, the root of the problem does not always lie on the surface. The main causes of overheating include:
- The refrigerator is new, therefore, it has not yet had time to cool down for a relatively short period of operation;
- Malfunctions in the operation of the thermistor, temperature sensor, and the problem may be related to both the sensor itself and the wiring.
Depending on what underlies the problem, the procedure for fixing the error changes accordingly.
The main parts in the refrigerator device
Before carrying out any manipulations with the refrigerator, you need to understand which part of it is responsible for a particular function. This will allow you to pinpoint exactly what the problem is.
The thermistor is a temperature sensor that monitors the temperature of the device: refrigerator and freezer. Information from the thermistor is transmitted to the control board, which is the center of the device. The control board, based on the information received from the thermistor, regulates the operation of other important parts of the refrigerator: fan, evaporator, power regulator.
It turns out that due to the incorrect operation of the thermistor, incorrect data is transmitted to the control board, which causes malfunctions in the entire device. Because of this, the refrigerator may not work at full capacity, that is, it may not be cold enough. Even if the problem does not seem so significant to you, it must be corrected, since the increase in temperature provokes the rapid growth of bacteria in food.
If an H1 error is detected, immediately move the food from the refrigerator to a cold place and do not put it back until the error is resolved.
The new refrigerator is not cold yet
Cases when a newly purchased refrigerator gives an H1 error are not uncommon. This is due to the fact that the new device has not yet had time to cool down enough to perform the actions correctly, because before that it was in a warehouse in a store at room temperature.
To solve the H1 problem, you need to remove the food from the refrigerator, unplug the device and wait 5 to 10 minutes. Then you need to plug the refrigerator back into the mains and wait 20 to 30 minutes before loading food. As a rule, if the problem was precisely in the cold refrigerator, the H1 error code no longer appears.
Problem with the thermistor
If the error code H1 does not occur in a new device, then, as a rule, the problem lies in the operation of the thermistor. To solve the problem, you need to disassemble the device, find the thermistor and replace it. To check the correct operation of the thermistor, you must have a multimeter, a device that combines the functions of a voltmeter, ammeter and ohmmeter. If the multimeter shows that the thermistor is intermittent, that the resistance is constant the same when the temperature of the refrigerator changes, then this part of the refrigerator is faulty.
How to replace the thermistor
You can also replace the thermistor at home. To do this, you must first find in the instructions where this part is located in the refrigerator device. It is also necessary to prepare the refrigerator for installation: remove food, disconnect the device from the electricity network.
You need to disassemble the refrigerator gradually: first, all shelves and covers are removed. After that, it is necessary to remove the air duct housing in order to gain access to the internal device of the refrigerator. Next, you need to remove the air duct, behind which the thermistor is usually located.
For installation, the thermistor must be disconnected from the duct. In parallel, you can check whether it is correctly connected to the duct, whether there are defects and damages. You may not need to repair the thermistor, because sometimes the problem is in the wrong connection.
If no connection errors were found, then you can proceed to check the thermistor. If the multimeter indicates that the device is malfunctioning, it must be replaced with a new one. A new thermistor can be purchased from specialized stores. During installation, make sure that all wires are connected correctly.
What to do if error H1 is still present after replacing the thermistor
If you have made sure that all parts in the refrigerator device are working properly, you can try resetting all settings. This resets the refrigerator system.
If this also does not help, you must contact the service center or the store where the refrigerator was purchased. You will be given either instructions on what to do, or a technician will be sent to help sort out the issue.
How to reset the refrigerator
In order to reset the Frigidaire refrigerator, you need to find the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons. Press and hold them for about 10 to 15 seconds. After that, the device will reboot.
If your refrigerator does not have these buttons, try simply disconnecting the device from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in.
Refrigerator Warranty
When buying equipment, a warranty period is usually given, during which you can contact the service center for free repairs. Often the warranty covers the components of the refrigerator as well. It is worth noting that if you do the installation yourself or call a technician from another company, there is a chance that they may refuse to repair the device under warranty.
Therefore, if you are not sure that you can fix the refrigerator, it is better to immediately contact the warranty center.
